Mas! (formerly MasVusi) is an award-winning, interdisciplinary musician and drag artist based in Washington, DC. Her work spans music production, performance art, and costume design over the time of a decade. Mas’ music draws deeply from the queer counterculture of disco and the electronic punk movement alike. They use politically charged lyrics, electronic drums, and a vibrant array of recycled textiles to build a do-it-yourself world.

Her most recent EP, “I hope you like it and,” and her over 100+ shows played/produced have positioned her to take on accolades such as a Fellowship with DC’s Commission on Arts and Humanities and her role as the Director of the Becoming Fund with 360HealthX. Their path to current successes have been ones built by community ties with Alphabet Soup Events, As You Are Bar DC, JR’s Bar and Grill, George Mason University, as well as those involved with Capital Pride’s 2024 Main Stage. Prior to her full efforts in the music industry, the internationally acclaimed documentary “Portrait of MasVusi” offered a compelling visual narrative of Mas’ life as a working drag artist and leader.
