Mas! (formerly MasVusi) is an award winning drag artist and electronic music artist based in Washington, DC.
Her work spans music production, performance art, and costume design with a decade of artistic endeavours under her belt. Mas’ music draws deeply from the queer counterculture electronic punk and disco movements alike. They use politically charged lyrics, electronic drums, and a vibrant array of recycled textiles to build a do-it-yourself world.
Her latest project, Wet Hot Anarchist Summer, is a fast-paced techno infused departure from her previous work with a lyrical focus on the politics of transexual liberation, tearing down hierarchies of power, and finding community amungst the chaos. Her previous 2024 EP, I hope you like it and, and 2025 released single Doctor BBB were formative in her ability to sustain 100+ shows played and produced in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. metro area.
She is a 2026 Fellows with DC’s Commission on Arts and Humanities and previously held the title as the Director of the Becoming Fund with 360HealthX in 2024. Prior to her full efforts in the music industry, the internationally acclaimed documentary “Portrait of MasVusi” offered a compelling visual narrative of Mas’ life as a working drag artist and leader.
Their path to current successes have been ones built by community ties with Rhizome, Transmission, As You Are Bar DC, TRADE, George Mason University, Capital Pride and national organizations like Win Without War.
